Situated in northern KwaZulu Natal, 350 kilometres from Durban and resting just outside Swaziland’s southern border, Pongola Game Reserve is famous for its breath-taking scenic variety and its array of wonderful leisure activities. In combination with the reserve’s abundance of space, these features create a unique destination. The landscape consists of rugged, towering mountains, expansive water bodies, and wild bushveld. Some of the main activities include safari cruises, canoe adventures, and excellent bird watching opportunities. Visitors can track rhino on foot, participate in the elephant tracking programme, try to catch tiger fish in Lake Jozini (South Africa’s top tiger fishing destination) or view game from a boat on the lake. The reserve has six private lodges, each equally luxurious, modern, secluded, and exclusive.

 

Overnight: White Elephant Bush Camp     

This unique self-catering lodge provides for a relaxed, private, bush experience.  Thatched en-suite chalets are generously spacious with quality linen and overhead fans. Open plan kitchen, dining room, bar and swimming pool with spectacular views ensure a “close to nature” relaxed ambience. Venture into the wilderness with a field guide on bush walks, game drives, boat cruises or cast the water for tiger fish. Learn more about research with our Elephant Research activity and track black rhino on foot. White Elephant Bush Camp is an escape from the busy, hurried world for families and friends.

Bush Camp can accommodate up to 16 guests as follows:
Chalet 1-4:          twin beds, en-suite shower.
Chalet 5-6:          twin beds, en-suite shower, and bath. 
Chalet 7:              family unit, en-suite shower. Twin beds in main room, 2 x single beds in adjoining room.

Bush Camp is the ideal camp for guided tours that are more budget conscious and where the tour guide can prepare the meals for the guests.
